Rokua Geopark is the first area in Finland that has made it in the international Geopark-network. The worldwide network supported by UNESCO consists of 78 geologically valuable that all also have significant cultural and natural values. Rokua Geopark is made up by the areas of Oulujoki valley, Rokua and Oulujärvi lake. The operators of Rokua Geopark are the counties of Muhos, Utajärvi and Vaala, Metsähallitus, Rokua health- and rehabilitation fund and the research center of geological studies.
